Peter O'Callaghan's whole life has revolved around horses.
Growing up on his family’s Yeomanstown Stud in Co. Kildare, Ireland, horses consumed nearly every waking moment.
When he wasn’t working alongside his parents and brothers managing Yeomanstown’s growing Thoroughbred breeding, stallion, and sales operations—by age 12, he was already riding out breeze-up horses—Peter was developing his skills across multiple equine disciplines, including three-day eventing and fox hunting. He rose to compete at national levels, earning a gold medal at the European Pony Club Championships, and was also an amateur jockey.

This deeply ingrained culture of horsemanship set the foundation for what Peter would go on to build at Woods Edge Farm. Prior to relocating to Kentucky in 2000, Peter spent three formative years at Ballydoyle, quickly advancing to manage multiple yards for Aidan O’Brien during some of the legendary trainer’s most successful seasons.
After heading to Florida for a two-year-old sales season with leading juvenile consignor Nick de Meric, Peter followed a well-trodden path of Irish expatriates to Gerry Dilger’s Dromoland Farm for the yearling sales. That November, when his father Gay O’Callaghan arrived in Lexington for the sales, they began searching for a farm to lease. Instead, they purchased 350 acres on Old Richmond Road. Additional acreage was later added there, along with a second property on Jacks Creek Pike adjacent to Juddmonte Farm, bringing the farm's total footprint to almost 700 acres.
Today, Woods Edge Farm breeds commercially, operates a Thoroughbred sales consignment, and boards and sells horses for a select group of clients. Over 25 years, Peter O’Callaghan has developed a reputation as a highly respected horseman—bringing impeccably prepared horses to the sales, achieving notable pinhooking successes, identifying stallions on the rise and, most importantly, producing horses that go on to perform for their buyers at the highest levels on the racetrack. Year by year, Woods Edge has grown carefully and deliberately, improving its facilities, land, and horse population while maintaining a boutique approach.
Deep-seated horsemanship remains at the root of everything Woods Edge Farm does. No stone is left unturned, and no detail is too small to examine. Peter lives on the farm with his wife, Jenny—a knowledgeable horsewoman and integral part of the operation—and their four children.

-Jenny O'Callaghan
Peter is supported in the operation of Woods Edge Farm by his wife, Jenny O’Callaghan. Like Peter, Jenny was born into a horse family in Ireland, with roots in Thoroughbred breeding dating back to the early 1900s. Her family bred the 1929 Epsom Derby winner Trigo and her father, Robert Barnett, owned and bred several influential horses, including the blue hen mare Time Charter; High Line, a successful sire and the damsire of Juddmonte’s renowned producer Hasili; Irish Oaks winner Pure Grain and British champion two-year-old and Royal Ascot winner Best Terms.
Jenny graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in business, economics, social studies and political science before being selected for Darley Flying Start. The two-year program took her to Ireland, England, Kentucky, Australia, and Dubai for an immersive Thoroughbred industry experience. Upon graduation, she settled in Kentucky, spending time at WinStar Farm and Select Sales before joining Woods Edge Farm full-time. She and Peter were married at the farm in 2017.
